You have to visit the Burj Khalifa and see how the sun setting over Dubai, this is the most breathtaking time to view Dubai from the world’s tallest building in the world. Entrance to the observatory is performed from the largest shopping center in Dubai Mall. It is impossible not to notice the tallest building being in Dubai, which is perfectly, appears on the general background of the city – this building is a well-known skyscraper Burj Khalifa. Its height is 828 meters and in the translation it means “The Dubai tower” but the city authorities especially by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (the vice-president of the United Arab Emirates and the governor of Dubai) was taking a decision on the day of the opening of a skyscraper to rename the majestic construction in honor of the president of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The construction of the tallest tower lasted for a long 6 years (2004 – 2010) on projects of the famous architect Adrian Smith and it was spent approximately about 1,5 billion dollars. At the first time about Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum plans of construction of the highest building in the world was declared in 2002. Practically, the tower should not have been just a crucial element of the city but also to attract tourists. The construction of this tower was entrusted to Dubai Company Emaar and her prime contractor became South Korean company Samsung Engineering. However, to construct such building was quite complicated moreover, the completion of the project has had on global financial crisis therefore, the governor of Dubai has requested a financial assistance of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. After financial assistance – multibillion dollar support – a skyscraper renamed in honor of Sheikh Khalifa. Burj Khalifa building has 163 floors and in July 2007, it could exceed on height the previous champion – a Taipei 101 skyscraper with height in 509 meters but it’s true that the achievements didn’t end. The record of the highest construction was broken in September 2007 belonging to CN Tower in Toronto – the height of 555 meters. The authorities have not provided the total tower height, it was kept in a secret before the opening ceremony and the top of residential floors of a skyscraper is located at the height of 584 meters, behind it follows the 244 meter spike from steel which is equipped with the equipment of communication and the antenna. The construction has also observation deck, which is located on the 124th floor and on height of 452 meters, being the second after an observation deck in Shanghai. Burj Khalifa is constructed in the form of the vertical city, all floors are located blocks specifically designed for various functions. About 900 apartments are located in the tower with a huge hotel of 304 rooms and 35 floors, which have been taken away under offices. The first three underground floors have private parking for 3000 cars. It should be noted that in spite of a huge costs in the construction the building paid off for itself in a very short term just a year after the opening ceremony of the tower. Even before completion of the construction the cost of 1m² constituted 40,000 dollars. However, except residential premises and offices a great popularity among tourists enjoyed an interesting observation deck, in order to get here you have to purchase a ticket for a few days prior to a visit.

Bay Creek

bAll history of Dubai is associated with the Bay Creek – a natural sea-sleeve, dividing the city in two parts. Dubai Creek is a shallow saltwater, Creek that winds its way from the trading port on the Gulf to the Ras al Khor, bird sanctuary on the desert edge of Dubai. Along the both sides of the Creek lies: the Deira Corniche and the Bur Dubai Corniche and lots of mini docks that berths assorted dhow and speed boats and yachts. There are no big boats, as the Creek is shallow. Activities to do at the Creek include riding the old-fashioned boats called Dhows, criss-cross the water from Bur Dubai – on the left bank, to Deira – on the right, or catch a water taxi, which is a small dhow, called an Abra. This is one of the ways, how you can get from Bur Dubai to Deira and back or sign up for a romantic sunset dhow cruise traveling further upstream. The Creek is the main artery of Dubai and at its sides the commerce and the life flourishes. Some of the most interesting sights of the city are at the banks of the Creek.
